Among its digital strides this year, the University of Fort Hare introduced an E-Ticketing system for its graduation ceremonies, making it easier for graduands and their guests to access their seats and enjoy the celebration.
Developed in partnership with Adapt IT and supported by the ICT Department, the system handles everything from automated seating plans to electronic ticket distribution, reducing long queues and ensuring a smooth, seamless experience for all.
The system was activated during the Spring Graduation in October.
“This project demonstrates the power of collaboration across Faculties, the Registrar’s Office, ICT, Marketing, and our strategic partners. The dedication of our team in testing, refining, and implementing this system exemplifies UFH’s commitment to excellence and service to the nation,” said the Deputy Registrar, Mr Zwelidumile Mditshwa.
The E-Ticketing system also enhances data credibility, cost efficiency, and financial sustainability, providing accurate attendance tracking and integrating with other administrative functions such as certificate printing and graduand invitations.
By embracing this innovative solution, UFH continues to modernize its processes and enhance the experience for students and staff.
“This radical and forward-thinking approach to automation and digital transformation is only the beginning. More innovations are on the way as we continue to modernize and enhance the student and staff experience,” Mditshwa said.
