The University of Fort Hare’s ladies football team, the “Baby Wolves”, in their second spell of the Hollywood Bets Super League, South Africa’s epic football league for the ladies, are likely to pull a surprise or two.
This, after they find themselves sitting in the third spot of the league standings with only seven games to play and four of them to be played at home. Standing on their way is a massive five games in hand; the log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, have. Mathematics may have all that, not giving kwa Somgxada girls even an outside chance as they are trailing with five points, but what the coach had set for themselves, finishing in the top four, is within reach.
To Mr. Sibabalo Feni, sports officer responsible for football, “This is owed to various functions within the institution, a collective effort to ensure the team produces results, the support we get from the acting Dean of students is amazing, leadership in the sports department going an extra mile in difficult times, sleepless nights from colleagues who are providing logistical support”.
“Without exacting pressure on the team, we are committed to maintaining the performance throughout the remaining games of the season and finishing in the top four amongst the best teams in the country, like Sundowns, Galaxy, and JVW, will just be an amazing achievement for the team”, the head coach, Simphiwe Mafene, emphasized.
Feni also said, beyond the support we get from within, we hope that the results we produce will help secure big sponsorship, and with that achieved, this pack of wolves will haunt the entire continent.
