The University of Fort Hare (UFH) has once again stamped its authority on the national entrepreneurship stage. This time, the spotlight shines on Katleho Mphutlane, who powered his way to 2nd Runner-Up in the Social Impact Category at the 2025 EDHE Entrepreneurship Intervarsity National Finals, just months after dominating the Eastern Cape Regional Rounds.
Katleho, a final-year Bachelor of Commerce in Economics student, is the co-founder of Incremental Education NPC, a game-changing organisation tackling one of South Africa’s most stubborn challenges: bridging the gap between education and employability.
The NPC creates global pathways for students, especially those from TVET colleges and universities of technology, by placing them in international work-integrated learning and cultural exchange programmes in the United States, Mauritius, Germany, and beyond.
Katleho’s journey has been inspirational. Reflecting on the win, he said:
“The entire EDHE journey has been truly life-changing. Winning 2nd Runner-Up motivates me even more to scale Incremental Education. I am deeply grateful for the UFH community, my mentors, and my business partners. This experience has also inspired me to support other UFH student entrepreneurs. With our consistency at nationals, UFH is not far from bringing home the overall prize.”
