What Documents do I need if my Matic qualification is not recognised in South Africa
A Matric Exemption Certificate is a document issued by the Matriculation Board. You must apply for the Matric Exemption Certificate if you have a Matric qualification not recognised in South Africa and was not obtained in high school or as an Adult Matric certificate.

I am an international applicant with a foreign school leaving, what is required?
All applicants with non-South African School-leaving require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into an undergraduate qualification. For more information regarding the Matriculation Exemptions please visit the Matriculation Board website on www.he-enrol.ac.za

- Exemption fees are adjusted annually.

- Submit proof of payment for the exemption fee, along with identification and school leaving documents for online application.

What is the documents are required for the Visa application?
The following documents must be submitted with the BI-1738 application form:
- A passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended visit
- Payment of the prescribed fee
- A vaccination certificate, if required by the Act
- Proof of financial means to cover envisaged living expenses during the sojourn in the Republic and to also pay for the tuition fees. This should be in the form of:
- bank statements
- cash available,
- or travellers’ cheques
- Proof of medical aid cover
- A cash deposit equivalent to the value of a return ticket.
- In the case of African students, an undertaking from the relevant government to take full responsibility of the student and to pay all costs, should it become necessary to deport the student
- Medical and radiology reports
- An official letter from the educational institution, where you intend to study, confirming provisional acceptance and the duration of the course.
- Proof of medical aid cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act.
- If you are 18 years and older, a police clearance certificate from each country in which you resided for 12 months or longer since the age of 18 years is required. This should be submitted with the application.

What Medical Cover do I need?
Although you may, with some other foreign medical aid products, secure a study visa from a South African diplomatic. UFH, in accordance with the Medical Schemes Act DOES NOT accept such medical cover for registration purposes. In terms of the Immigration Amendment Act 19 of 2004, any prospective student to the Republic of South Africa, must provide proof of medical cover with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Scheme Act, 1998 Act 131 of 1998.
Research and choose a medical scheme:
Research different medical schemes in South Africa to find one that suits your needs and budget. Consider factors such as benefits, premiums, network of healthcare providers, and reputation.
Complete an application form:
Contact the chosen medical scheme or visit their website to obtain an application form. Fill out the form with your personal details, including your full name, contact information, ID number, and any dependents you wish to include on the scheme.
Provide supporting documents:
Along with the application form, you may need to provide supporting documents such as a copy of your ID or passport, proof of address, proof of income (if required), and any other documents requested by the scheme.
Submit your application:
Once you have completed the application form and gathered all the necessary documents, submit your application to the medical scheme. This can usually be done online, by email, or in person at a branch office.
Wait for processing:
The medical scheme will process your application and assess your eligibility based on their criteria. This process can take a few days to a few weeks, depending on the scheme.
Receive membership details:
If your application is approved, you will receive a membership pack from the medical scheme containing your membership number, membership card, and details of your benefits and coverage.
Start using your cover:Once your cover is active, you can use your medical aid benefits to pay for healthcare services.
