With a robust academic foundation and extensive experience, she is also a Moderator for the Midwifery module at Lilitha College of Nursing. Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Nursing, Zukiswa’s research focuses on evaluating an Exclusive Breastfeeding Supportive Triad Interpersonal Intervention Programme. Her niche areas include midwifery, infant and young child feeding support, and HIV curriculum development. Zukiswa is an active contributor to the academic community, having presented at various local conferences, is part of a SAMRC project, co-supervised a postgraduate student, and served as an internal examiner. She has reviewed scholarly articles for Wiley: Birth related to perinatal care. She is also currently a supervisor for groups of honour students. Her commitment to community engagement has been recognized by the University of Fort Hare, where she received the Vice-Chancellor Excellence Award in Community Engagement (2018) and the Vice-Chancellor Excellence Award for a Developing Teacher (2024).
