Vaccination Programme for Higher Education Staff from Today

As announced by the Minister on Friday, 23 July 2021, the Department of Higher Education and HigherHealth, in collaboration with the Department of Health, are rolling out a vaccination programme for Post-School Education and Training (PSET) staff.
In order to benefit from this opportunity, staff need to be 35 years or older. The programme will be rolled out from tomorrow, 27 July 2021 until 30 July 2021. The programme is available to full-time staff, part-time staff, contract staff and postgraduate students who teach as long as you are over the age of 35.
We received this afternoon a list of clinics where a dedicated queue for Post-School Education and Training staff will be available on these dates.

In order to take up this offer:
1) Staff have to register on the government’s EVDS system first:
a. Self-Registration Web portal: https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za
b. USSD: Dial *134*832*ID Number# (No ID? – Just Dial *134*832#)
c. WhatsApp Portal: Send word “REGISTER” to 060 012 3456 on WhatsApp
d. Toll-free hotline: Call 0800 029 999
2) Registered staff on EVDS to proceed to the nearest vaccination site, as listed above or per Annexure A attached, from 27 July to 30 July 2021, from 08h00 to 17h00
3) Employees will be vaccinated on presentation of the following:
a. South African Identification Card/South African Residents Permit/Passport if a foreign national
b. Proof of employment (staff identity, staff card or a letter from the Head of the Institution
c. Medical Aid details (if applicable)
For staff who do not have a staff card, please note that the Human Resources Division will issue a letter to all eligible staff, which can be presented at the vaccination point.
Staff who are eligible and who have not been vaccinated yet are strongly encouraged to make use of this opportunity. Vaccination is a critical strategy in our efforts to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A next phase for PSET staff under the age of 35 is soon to follow.
