UFH Choirs to feature on Mzantsi Magic - Chanel 340

UFH choirs (Alice and East London) have recorded 16  songs with television gospel show Melodi on Dumisa TV (channel 340).

The recording took place on the 12th of September 2021 at Urban Brew Studios in Randburg, Johannesburg. Each choir recorded eight songs.

The invitation came after choir overseer and Music lecturer, Mr Ndumiso Mtshali sent choir profiles to Mzantsi Magic Programmes Manager. "The UFH choir sound is different and unique. This worked to our advantage in getting the call to record on the show. It was very easy for them to accept our request because we were bringing something new to choral sound fused with the band. My wish is for the choirs to record volume 2 albums and go on a tour visiting different universities” said Mtshali.

The songs are a mixture of church hymns and traditional African songs - Izitibili. The choir also performed other well-known songs which are mostly performed during university graduations such as Thina Siyagiya, Hlala Nami, Thaba Tshweu, just to name a few.

Melodi gospel show is currently shooting a new season which will be broadcast in October. Urban Brew studios will inform the choir of the exact date the show will be featured.

CDs of the choir can be purchased from UFH Institutional Advancement offices.
