The course is based on the CHEC Information Literacy prototype (developed by the same project team). The University of Fort Hare Library gratefully acknowledges the willingness of CHEC, in the person of Dr James Leatt, to use its site as a basis for developing this course for the University of Fort Hare (UFH).

The development project was an initiative of the South East Academic Libraries System (SEALS) library consortium's Information Literacy Project which was funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The funds were administered by the East Cape Higher Education Association (ECHEA).
