Welcome to the Nelson R. Mandela School of Law

Welcome to the Nelson R. Mandela School of Law. The Faculty of Law was established in 1961 and received permission to rename itself after former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela in 1998. The School of Law was formerly established under that name in 2002.


The vision of the Faculty of Law is to be a centre of excellence in teaching, learning, research and innovation driven by an uncompromising commitment to fairness and justice.


The mission of the Faculty is to produce suitably skilled and well-rounded law graduates who excel and demonstrated excellence in their technical competences, and make meaningful contribution to society and the legal profession.
