Dr Bongani Alphouse Nkala

Bongani Nkala is a Time-on-task lecturer for microbiology at the department of Natural Sciences at University of Fort Hare. He hold a PhD in human physiology from University of KwaZulu-Natal). His key interest is work integrated learning to link the lab and the world of work through internship placements, workplace assignments and promoting research from science to innovation.  Dr Nkala has a background in applied and natural sciences and teaches in the areas of laboratory management, biology, microbiology, medical microbiology, agricultural economics, industry exploration and work integrated learning. He is currently employed by Eduvos (formerly known as Pearson Institute of higher Education) as internship Manager/Senior lecturer. In 2021, he was voted the best lecturer in the faculty of applied science and won teachers’ Excellence award 2021. Dr Nkala is passionate about connecting graduates with industry for sustainable work and promoting self-substance through science. African traditional medicine with particular interest in management of diabetes and other cardiovascular diseases. Dr Nkala is keen to establish a research unit within his interest at the university of Fort Hare. He has presented his work in local, provincial and international conference. Dr Nkala has published six articles from international journal and 1 book chapter.
