The FOSST Discovery Centre received laptops from the IDC! These are fruits of hard work endeavors by the Director of the Projects Office, Ms Nokulunga Mnqeta.
As you know we started the online/remote experimentation project which will revolutionize the way we do things in our science practical session spaces. Students will now be able to perform experiments at any time and anywhere if there is internet connectivity. The laptops will enable us to space them in accordance with social distancing while they perform these experiments when they are physically on-site.

The other project is one of STEM catch-up classes, proudly sponsored by Albert Wessels to assist schools in our rural areas surrounding UFH. The preparations are underway as we mounted all the PPEs to receive school learners soon. I also heard from Ms Jali that our offices and labs have been disinfected to enable us to resume our STEM Catch-up Classes. The Laptops will assist us to enable them to view Eureka educational software and the Class Response System (CRS). It will also assist in the e-learning projects we started in collaboration with Amrita University.

The other one is the Youth Skills Development Project. Though some of it encompasses all of the above, it also enables our learners to programme robotics and other coding projects. Fortunately, we already have 10 robotics on-site, but a lot will now be programmed online using the ReVEL facility. These computers will assist in enabling learners and students to learn coding (as pronounced by the SA President, President Cyril Ramaposa) during this Covid-19 era.
