From 6 - 9 April 2014, APIES hosted the 11th meeting of the Southern African Society for Systematic Biology at the historical Hogsback Inn, Eastern Cape. Hogsback village nestles in the Amathole Mountain range at the junction of several ecosystems, including a mist belt yellow wood forest, and alpine grassland, and the area is home to several endangered species. The theme of the conference was: Time, Topography and Taxonomy: The Co-evolution of Earth and Life, and the plenary speakers included Prof.
