HEAD: VETERINARY SCIENCE LIAISON UNIT (VSLU)

1 Year Contract (Externally Funded Post)

SALARY: min R750 000 - max R850 000 (per annum)


 

In partnership with the Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform of the Eastern Cape, the University of Fort Hare is instituting a Veterinary Science Liaison Unit (VSLU), the function of which is to prepare for the eventuality of a Veterinary Science programme being established at the University. The University seeks to recruit a qualified veterinarian with academic experience in veterinary science programmes to head the VSLU for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.


  Duties:

  • Recruit other staff to the VSLU;
  • Manage the VSLU
  • Ensure the completion of feasibility studies, business plans, and other documents related to the establishment of a Veterinary Science programme
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders

 

Requirements: 
  • A degree in veterinary science with minimum NQF level 8 (however a master’s degree would be an advantage)
  • Experience in veterinary science programmes and/or research
  • Excellent networking skills and reputation within government and the private sector
  • Knowledge of South Africa’s higher education sector and relevant policies
  • Project Management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
