Job Description:

Knowledge, strength, oration, charisma, inspiration, goal orientation, or all of the above – you're just an outstanding leader?

There is no doubt, the university of Fort Hare is an African landmark.  An institution that has contributed like no other during South Africa's struggle … an institution of reformation and democracy … an institution faced with enormous adversity still went on, proudly producing numerous South African leaders including Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Robert Sobukwe, Oliver Tambo, Govan Mbeki, Z.K. Matthews, Chris Hani, as well as a host of other African leaders.

You thrive on Faculty leadership and management, not only because you are an expert in your field, you are also exemplary in providing high-level academic content, giving strategic direction and driving research and teaching programs.
Community engagement and transformation sit high on your agenda.
You are known for competently implementing a university's vision and mission.
Your calm and confident demeanour allows you to work in partnership with both the Provincial and National Department of Health as well as with the National Health Laboratory Services.
It's your postgraduate qualification in a relevant health discipline, coupled with a specific focus, in Public Health or Health Management and leadership or administration that stands out.
Registrable as a Health Professional with a relevant Health Council goes without question, as does your proven leadership of no less than 5 years in senior management.
You thrive on managing a complexity of internal and external stakeholder relations, while inspiring, implementing and driving strategy is your forté.
You are an astute decision maker and a consummate communicator – both written and verbal. Confident, value-based leadership that is strongly underpinned by a caring and sensitive approach to matters of diversity, transformation and equity, stands as a cornerstone to your success.
