I am Lulekwa Baleni and have joined the UFH in January 2014 as TLC Consultant after 27 years of service with the Department of Basic Education – first as educator, then as Subject Advisor and finally as Manager.
I completed the STD (Maluti College), BA (EDUC) (Unitra), BEd (Unitra) and MEd in Special Education Needs & Support Services (NMMU) and I am currently completing the BEd in Life Orientation (Rhodes).
At the TLC I am responsible for the Peer Facilitator Training programme which is designed to develop the facilitation skills of the appointed students/tutors as peer facilitators. I work together with academic staff in various faculties to coordinate training for facilitators and provide support in curriculum development. My focus is enhancing collaborative learning by providing an enabling teaching and learning environment for both peer facilitators and students.
My vision is to facilitate the development of an effective peer facilitated learning systems aimed at developing appointed facilitators as reflective practitioners. I am looking forward to work with an intrinsically motivated team to address the learning challenges inherent to higher education. Students will be exposed to learning strategies which will sharpen their critical thinking skills, improve their academic success and bridge the gap between university and the challenging world of work
