Today saw the University of Fort Hare once again join hands as academics, staff, students and unions marched to the Alice police station in support of higher education’s aversion around issues pertaining rape and abuse of women. The march was part of a campaign jointly organised by Rhodes University, University of Fort Hare and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s to raise a united voice against gender violence against women.
SALDA (South African LAW Deans Association) held one of its annual meetings at the East London Campus on Friday. The body meets twice annually to discuss matters concerning legal education in South Africa. SALDA is an association of incumbent deans of South African faculties of law and heads of law schools. The members do not officially represent their institutions, but the Association is representative of the views and experiences of those responsible for the management of legal education in the country.
