Life, Knowledge, Action - The Grounding Programme (LKA/GP).
LKA/GP is an innovative project aimed at facilitating exciting teaching and learning experiences for all undergraduate students entering the university as part of a university-wide curricular renewal process. It intends to build on student’s own experiences and create an environment where students can grapple with and upon societal issues and develop a sense of collective purpose to build diverse, caring and compassionate intellectual communities on the campuses of the university. The GP is inclusive of all knowledge-frameworks and will, inter alia, include those that relate to humanities, law, science, commerce, technology, the environment, etc. Students will have the space and opportunity to work towards creating dignified and humanising lives for themselves and others and at the same time build a culture of reading, writing, critical thinking, dialogue and social engagement. The GP is taught by University academics, and supported by student facilitators.
