The University of Fort Hare Library has Campus Libraries located on the Alice Campus as well as at the East London Campus of the University,the Bhisho Campus and the Department of Nursing Sciences also in East London.The Library has over 165 000 volumes of books, periodicals and other material. Special collections are housed in the Howard Pim Library of Rare Books which is situated on the ground floor of the main library building. The East London Campus Library includes the Bisset Berry Collection that also is housed separately from the campus's main collection.
The purpose of the University library is to provide the University community with access to quality information services and resources in a variety of formats and delivery systems that support the teaching, learning research and service mission of the University of Fort Hare and to foster the skills which are necessary for independent lifelong learning thereby contributing to the social, cultural, intellectual and economic development of South Africa.The information services Library Services is integrated to the teaching, learning and research activities of the University.
To support excellence, the Library Services:

World Biographical Information System Online (WBIS Online) is the most comprehensive biographical database available. Based on the digitization of K. G. Saur's Biographical Archives, it compiles biographical articles from printed reference works published from the 16th to the 21st century, and reproduces these original documents as facsimile images on the screen. Thus, WBIS Online features biographical profiles of people from all centuries as well as all countries and regions worldwide. In addition to 8.5 million digitized biographical articles, the WBIS Online database currently provides an index to 57 Biographical Archives totalling short biographies on more than 6 million people.
