A hearty welcome to all prospective students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Fort Hare. The Faculty is the oldest in the University as it was the foundational Faculty when the University was established in 1916.
Many students who have passed through the Faculty have proceeded to become outstanding leaders of the South African nation, for example, Nelson Mandela, Govan Mbeki, Robert Sobukhwe and ZK Matthews. More recently, for example, the Media Officer for President Mbeki, that is, Bheki Khumalo, graduated from the Faculty as well.
