(FET band) (Mathematical Literacy) 

Purpose

               The ACE (FET:ML) aims to update, enrich and/or supplement FET Band teachers in Mathematical Literacy, which is to be introduced as a compulsory subject in the FET Band of Schooling. Mathematical Literacy is driven by life-related applications of Mathematics, enabling learners to develop the ability and confidence to think numerically and spatially in order to interpret, critically analyze and solve problems in everyday situations.

               Competencies and content relating to specialism and phase level:

•  Developing mathematical skills in context

•  Mathematical literacy for self-management

•  Mathematical literacy in the workplace

•  Mathematical literacy for concerned citizens
