MASTER OF COMMERCE IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS (by Dissertation)
Purpose of the Qualification
To produce research that, through new theory, is practically useful for South Africa, to increase research skills of learners, and to encourage learners to consider studying further towards a Doctor of Philosphy in Information Systems.
Structure of the programme
The programme usually consists of 2 years of full-time study, and 3 years of part-time study, although learners who apply themselves are able to complete in a shorter time period.
Workshops, seminars and learner led presentations are scheduled as the need is identified. Any assessments that occur internally are formative (feedback-based), although learners will undergo a summative assessment at the end of their Masters.
To be awarded a Masters learners must complete a significant dissertion, which is assessed by internal and externally appointed academic examiners.
