Department of Industrial Psychology Staff

The current staff complement in the Department is six academic staff members.


Mr Chan Murugan (Head of Department) (MA) (HED) Registered Counselling psychologist with HPCSA.
His areas of research interests are career psychology, social psychology, psychometrics, research methods, employee health, safety and wellness
He lectures in: Introduction to Psychology in the Work Context; Social Behaviour & Social Processes in Organizations; Career Psychology (An Organization Perspective); Research Methods & Psychometrics; Psychology of Personality In the Work Context; Employee Health, Safety & Wellness; Quantitative Methods
Mr Murugan is currently a senior lecturer and assists the Student Counselling Centre.

Mr Andre’ Nel(M. Com.) (HED)
His areas of research interest are Organisational Behaviour (Psychology) and Personnel Psychology, with emphasis on development and in the changing global environment. He is particularly interested in issues relating to the development, behaviour and transformation of employee’s within their work environment. He sees his future research developing and understanding the individual as human being, employee and family man within the global- and changing world of work 
He lectures in Organisational Behaviour, Personnel Psychology and Employee Retention & Performance Management.
Mr Nel is currently working on D.Com (Industrial Psychology

Mr Crispen Chipunza. (M. Com; MPA) Registered Chartered HR Practitioner (SABPP)
His areas of research interests are organisational change and leadership, employee motivation, research methods and consumer behaviour.
He lectures in Personnel Psychology, Consumer Behaviour, and Research Methods, Employee Training and Development and Employee Compensation. He is also involved in supervision of students at Honours and Masters levels.
Mr Chipunza is currently finishing his Post-graduate Diploma in HIV/AIDS Management in the World of Work with Stellenbosch University and is also working on his PhD with Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU).

Ms Mandisa Mavuso (Deputy HOD) (M. Admin)
Areas of research interests are HIV/AIDS at work, Employment Relations, Employment Equity and Affirmative Action, Employee satisfaction, and Legislations that impact on management of human resources.
She lectures in Industrial Relations, Legal Aspects of Employment, Compensation Management and Advanced Industrial Relations.  She is also involved in supervision of Honours students.
Ms Mavuso is currently working on D Admin (Industrial and Organisational Psychology) with University of South Africa (UNISA).

Ms Zukelwa Baqo (B. Admin (Hons)
Areas of research interests are Labour Relations and Personnel Psychology.
She lectures in Human Resources Management- Employee Resourcing & Introduction to HRM, Coordinates tutorials for 1st & 2nd year courses, and assists in lecturing Personnel Psychology & Introduction to Industrial Psychology and these levels.
Ms Baqo is currently registered for Masters of Administration by research in Industrial Psychology with UFH.
