Ms Du Plessis is Head of Department and Senior Lecturer. Her MSc focused on the interrelationships between Fluvial Geomorphology and Riparian Vegetation, within the context of Interbasin Water Transfer Schemes. She is an experienced consultant and researcher in the application of GIS in Natural and Earth Sciences, and started lecturing in 1994 at the University of the Free State, then Research Assistant with the Geography Department at Rhodes University (1997-2001). She started lecturing at UFH in 2002, and was awarded the VC Award for Excellence in Teaching (Developing Lecturer) in 2009, and for Experienced Lecturer in 2015. International contributions include work as a member of a UNEP’s Scientific Research Group on sustainable utilisation of resources in the Savannah regions of Southern Africa.
