The Department of Accounting is recognised as a ‘flagship’ department of the University. Its programmes are offered on both the Alice and the East London campuses. It is well resourced and the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) accredits all of its programmes.
The current Head of the Department is Mr. Temba Zakuza
About the Head Of Department
Mr. Temba Zakuza has been in academia
since 1998 as junior lecturer at the University of Cape Town (UCT)
also did a Bachelors degree in Accounting with the University of
the North now known as Limpopo. He completed his PGDipAcc at
UCT in 1998, qualified in 1999 and moved to University of
Transkei now as Walter Sisulu University as a financial
accounting and management accounting lecturer. He assumed the
senior lecturer position in 2000 and acting HOD position. He
moved to University of Port Elizabeth now known as Nelson
Mandela Metropolitan University and lectured accounting 3 and
auditing. He joined the newly formed Nkonki Inc. Audit firm in
Johannesburg as part of the founding members. He subsequently
founded T.S Zakuza & Beseti firm originally based in Durban and
relocated to King Williams Town in Eastern Cape. He joined Fort
Hare 2005 in Alice, lectured financial Accounting, and lectured
Auditing in East London.
He took over the reigns of the
accounting department of UFH in November 2006.
