Dr Wisemen Chingombe is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences. He has previously served as Acting Dean of the Faculties of Science and Science Education and as Head of Geography Department at Bindura University of Science Education; Zimbabwe. A substantial part of Dr Chingombe’s research has focused on environmental issues and the application of GIS and Remote Sensing technologies in solving environmental issues and poverty alleviation in communities especial marginalised mountain communities, Hydrology and Water Resource Management, Catchment Management, Climate change and variability, Participatory GIS Applications, Environmental Geography, Environmental Geomorphology, Land Degradation and Education. He has an extensive body of published scholarly work. Dr Chingombe has several years of experience training, and continues to train, Honours, Master’s and Doctoral students. At least 23 Honours students have successfully passed through his supervision, as have 13 Master’s and 6 Doctoral candidates are currently carrying out research on themes related to environment, climate change and variability issues. Dr Chingombe’s colleagues and peers highly regard and look up to him for his research mentorship and has collaborated with colleagues in the Free State University, Bindura University of Science Education and currently is establishing collaborative work with WSU and ARC.
