PROFESSOR: DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

Applications are invited from qualified and experienced candidates for the above-mentioned permanent position in the Faculty of Management and Commerce - Department of Development Studies:

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Research methodology in Development Studies, Strategies and organisation of rural social and economic change, The concept of development, Development planning, multilateral institutions and regional integration in Africa, The political economy of health in Africa
  • Supervision of Masters and PhD students, engagement in all the learning, research and community activities of the department.
  • Develop quality local and international partnerships
  • Participate in all departmental activities including providing guidance and mentoring of students in the department
  • Participating in departmental and faculty administrative duties, and in strategic planning
  • Representing and serving the university on different committees and groups 

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in Development Studies
  • Eight or more years of university teaching experience
  • Substantial record of successful postgraduate supervision at Masters and PhD levels,
  • Experience in co-ordination of postgraduate research and students’ practical learning experiences
  • Evidence of academic leadership in curriculum design and in university structures.
  • Track record in attracting external funding;
  • Numerous research publications in the field of development studies in accredited scholarly journals/publications.
