The University of Fort Hare is seeking to appoint a visionary and accomplished Director with extensive experience in Internationalisation, and in the South Africa higher education sector.  The preferred candidate will raise the international profile of the institution through strategic partnerships, as well as advancing a conducive environment that will establish UFH as preferred destination for international students and academic staff.  The preferred candidate is a respected leader, with the requisite reputation, who is able to represent UFH internationally, inspire and motivate the academic community, students, alumni and external stakeholders in the University by creating a best-practice framework for Internationalisation.


 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and coordinate an approach for international brand promotion that aims to attract high-calibre international student applicants.
  • Improve international student enrolment as well as facilitating the attraction of leading scholars.
  • Develop an international funding strategy through appropriate proposals, partnerships including foreign embassies, the African Union, other international bodies.
  • Develop a comprehensive Institutional policy framework that responds to international –related policy documents.
  • Ensure high-quality governance and administration systems within the International Affairs Division.

 

Requirements: 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • A Master’s degree; a PhD will be an added advantage.
  • Substantial experience in internationalisation activities preferably in the higher education context.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance and vision to the division.
  • Experienced in managing budgets and demonstrable evidence of fund raising.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Included in the above remuneration is the company contribution to our compulsory pension fund, medical aid contributions, life cover and an optional annual bonus.
